College Road Trip
1. Describe what your experience was like this week. This week, I got the opportunity to visit multiple colleges in San Diego and take tours around the sites. It was really fun and interesting getting to travel around in a bus and stay at hotels near the campuses.
2. What differences did you notice between the different schools you visited? Most of the schools were pretty large and had a huge population, while I believe one school was smaller. Some schools had a lot of students walking around outside while one school was having finals so everyone was working hard inside the classes. The schools had their own unique feel to them and it was nice.
3. How has this experience changed/influenced your ideas around college? For example:
- Being away from home/parents
- Driving long distances to get home
- Being immersed in a different city/culture
- Being responsible for taking care of yourself
It’s a big step to take on moving from high school and it’s certainly a new experience. I think it sounds fun to live away from parents and live in a dorm, but it is a big step at the same time. I know that I would feel homesick after some time away and I would miss seeing my parents a lot.
4. What are you looking forward to the most in college?
I’m looking forward to meeting new people, making friends, and studying what I like.
5. What are you most concerned about for college?
I’m most concerned about getting accepted into the right college that I want to attend.
6. Are you interested in Study Abroad?
Yes, I am interested in studying abroad.
7. Did you hear about any clubs or organizations you would be interested in joining?
No I wasn’t interested in any of the clubs offered.
8. What type of college (or trade school) are you interested in attending?
I’m interested in a college that focuses in art.
9. Do you think you will stay in-state, or go to another state/country?
I’m not sure whether I’ll stay in-state or go somewhere else. I find staying in-state convenient, while I want to travel somewhere else and try something new. It could be a bit expensive going somewhere else to go to college, but I’m not sure if I want to stay in California.
