.So far, Offred is in the same place with the other maids, and one of the maids, Moira were hurt. The two Aunts brought her in and let her change her clothes. Offred and Moira were avoiding each other for a little bit of time before Moira stated "This is a loony bin", and they agreed to meet up and talk to each other.
One connection I see between this book and the society today is that women still have many expectations of them. If these aren't exactly met, then sometimes they can be perceived in a negative way. I will comment on Breanna and Simon's blog.

So far, the characters introduced are the main character, Alma, Janine, Dolores, Moira, and June. They currently sleep in an old gymnasium that's patrolled. They're enclosed from the outdoors except for their daily walks. The characters wish to be free from their current state it seems, and they wish they could talk to "the Angels" (guards).
I've never read a dystopian novel before, and I think it's interesting and very odd. A similarity I see from this book is the maids. I've seen shows where there were rich people who had maids and the maids weren't treated well. The book takes place on Earth, I believe it's older times. |
