"C.E.O Activism Has Become the New Normal" By David Gelles This article is about companies getting involved in politics. Starbucks, Patagonia, and Dick's Sporting Goods have all recently gotten included in politics; It's said that this has been a growing trend in "corporate America", and has been rising for years. The article states that barely a week can pass without a social issue occurring in companies. Weber Shandwick released data from a study on this issue and some results are:
In my opinion, these companies certainly have the right to speak about issues that they are concerned about or are even affected by, and want to say something about it as well. I believe these companies shouldn't get involved and have their products relate to issues only because it's popular and could possibly get them more customers. I feel that this is currently happening, and some Americans are not happy with this. I hope that these companies can continue what they're doing the right way to keep getting customers and succeeding. Issues like these can obviously be a sensitive topic, and they should only be promoting these topics if they are taking part of it. Article
